On Saturday, October 20, at Castello Brown in Portofino, we were at the presentation of a unique wine: Cloe Marie Kottakis is the first champagne, only 3,000 in number, aged for 18 months in the waters of the Portofino Marine Protected Area, 52 meters deep.
The champagne, produced in France by Drappier, selected and put into refinement by Jamin S.r.l., was met with enthusiasm by the guests and sommeliers in attendance. From the Champagne region, through the depths of Portofino, he did not betray his unique narrative to the palate as well.
Design Gang created the logo for the Underwater wine cave -52 and designed the labels for this first champagne production. Cloe Marie Kottakis' bottles, covered with the remnants of their sojourn on the seabed, are clothed with a precious brass label, closed with bolts reminiscent of the marine world. A collar bears the specimen number of this "Privilege" edition. Brass is a material that-like wine-changes over time. Oxidation processes make each label even more unique; each bottle is a collector's piece.
Design Gang also handled the graphic design of the communication materials. The event was preceded by an exclusive invitation, and the route from Portofino's Piazzetta to Castello Brown was accompanied by signage telling guests that the wine, after being at -52 meters deep, dated back to Castle Brown which is located right at 52 meters above sea level.
