MECSPE is the annual trade show of reference for the manufacturing industry and projects in Industry 4.0. The appointment for this year is at the Fiera di Parma, March 22-24, 2018.
Design Gang was involved in designing a simplified representation of a supply chain that reflects the Industry 4.0 protocol . The creation of a gadget for visitors thus becomes a way to explain the potential development of the smart factory of the future.
The chain aims to highlight how a production line, consisting of multiple heterogeneous machines, can be adapted to Industry 4.0 regulations by leveraging digital technologies.
As part of the fair, such integration is shown through the operation of the supply chain in the production of a keychain gadget for the visitor.
From a tablet, the visitor enters their order. The BABYPLAST injection printer receives the command and prints the plastic components.
The robot provided by MGM ROBOTICS picks them up and takes them to CEMAS ELETTRA's laser welding machine.
In parallel, the 3D printer of
MICROLA OPTOELECTRONICS
decorates the gadget with miniaturized details.
Once the welding is done, the finished workpiece is picked up by the robot, which delivers it to the visitor outside the enclosure via a chute.
From the tablet, the visitor enters the confirmation of receipt of the piece and obtains from the printer the delivery note with which to go to the MICROLA/ORCHESTRA booth (Digital Factory - Hall. 4.1 - Booth C31) for laser marking the gadget with one's first and last name as entered by tablet when ordering.
The entire cycle is monitored and controlled by the system provided by ORCHESTRA, which starts the processing upon digital input from the visitor, tracks each individual process and checks the progress of the product, eventually producing a bill to be delivered to the visitor along with the gadget.
A monitor allows visitors to follow the entire cycle, which can also be enjoyed directly on their mobile devices via browser through access via QR Code highlighted at the edge of the line.
